The Art Room

The Art Room

The Art Room is a project that uses art to support children and young people's mental health and wellbeing.

At Place2Be, we use creativity as a tool to help children thrive. Through creative expression, children and young people can explore their feelings, identity and relationships.

Creative expression and play are crucial for children’s healthy emotional development. Research in the fields of neuroscience and psychology has found that they play an important role in helping our minds and bodies develop.

By engaging in creative activities, children can be supported to build positive social and emotional connections with others. In this way, creative play can help children learn about themselves, how they relate to others, and the world around them.

When I make amazing art it helps me believe in myself. Priya, 8-years-old

Activities from the Art Room

Our Activities from the Art Room offers a selection of creative projects. Each one explores a wellbeing theme through creative activities, stories, and conversation. These activities can be used to help children, young people, and adults nurture their relationships together whilst having fun.

Creative Wellbeing Projects

The Creative Wellbeing Projects empower school staff to use creative activities to support children’s mental health in classrooms.

Each project explores a theme related to mental health and is aligned with Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) education and Relationships, Sex and Health Education (RSHE) outcomes. School staff are guided in using stories, sensory games, and creative activities to build supportive relationships in their class and school.

These projects are freely accessible to all alumni of Place2Be’s mental health training for school staff or senior leaders. Find out more by signing up.
