The Art Room is a charity aimed at 5 - 16 year olds who are experiencing emotional and behavioural difficulties. There are currently nine Art Rooms in schools in Oxfordshire, London and Edinburgh offering art as therapy to increase children’s self-esteem, self-confidence and independence.
For six weeks from 29 April 2015, The Art Room will have a major presence in Selfridges: an installation of chairs transformed by artists, designers, architects and fashion icons, suspended in the main atrium space; a pop-up Art Room in the Ultralounge space; and a window on Duke Street co-curated by Art Room students and directly inspired by their own work.
The project will raise funds for the work of The Art Room and is supported by long-term partner, the Columbia Threadneedle Foundation.
For your chance to purchase a chair by a leading artist, architect, designer and fashion icon visit the Chair Auction site between 22 May - 9 June.
