Outset Family

Outset Family was founded in 2010 and is part of Outset Contemporary Art Fund, a philanthropic organisation, which focuses on bringing private funding from its supporters and trustees to public museums, galleries, and art projects.

Micaela Boas, director of Outset Family and herself a mother of three, devised a unique programme that allows children between the ages of two and eight to approach contemporary art in a playful and creative manner, engaging and inspiring the whole family.

Children and parents alike are invited to explore London's leading museums and galleries, to participate in workshops and visit artists' studios. Outset Family patrons enjoy the chance to learn more about contemporary art together with their children and friends while at the same time supporting ambitious and innovative art education initiatives for children in less fortunate circumstances.

The Art Room's philosophy about arts education and art as therapy was very much aligned with Outset and Outset Family's belief in the transformative power of Art. The Art Room staff's sensitivity towards and respect of the children involved in the programme as well as the skill and creativity of its practitioners, convinced Micaela that Juli's programme was a natural fit for Outset Family and that reopening of The Art Room's first London based centre at the Robert Blair Primary School was an obvious inaugural project to support. We are thrilled with our choice and are looking forward to continue our collaboration with such an extraordinary organization.
