21 December 2016
The Art Room Board of Trustees wish to announce that, after 15 years of inspirational leadership, Juli Beattie OBE is stepping down from her position as Founder Director of The Art Room at the end of 2016.
Juli Beattie says, "Although I am sad to be leaving and this has not been an easy decision to make, The Art Room is in a strong position with new leadership and it is now the right time for me to move on. I wish the very best for The Art Room’s future, for the team and above all for the young people the charity supports.
It has been an honour to set-up and lead the charity to its current position and to have made a significant difference to many young people’s lives.
I would like to thank all those who have supported and endorsed the work of The Art Room over the last 15 years."
Jonathan Lloyd-Jones, Chair of Trustees says “Juli’s vision and energy has brought into being an exceptional organisation providing help, through the unique methodology she pioneered, to enrich the lives of children in Oxford, London, Edinburgh and further afield. From an idea proposed to friends in her Oxford home, to an organisation with over 40 staff across the country, Juli’s untiring optimism, intelligence and creativity has been an inspiration to all who have had the privilege of working with her. Juli can rightly be very proud of having created an organisation that has been recognised across the educational, therapeutic and artistic worlds as bringing something different into existence. The Board recognises that Juli believes now is the time for her to move on and we wish her the very best for the future. The Art Room will continue its work with children facing a multitude of challenges. A new Art Room in south London has recently opened and we will look to further develop our offering to enable us to reach as many children as possible as we move forward.”
