All star cast at the Almeida Theatre in aid of The Art Room

On Sunday Dec 5th 2010, a special one-off production of director Patrick Barlow's 'Star Child' was performed at The Almeida Theatre, Islington as a charity fund raising performance for The Art Room. We gathered together 16 actors, musicians, singers, and a children's choir who performed in this magical play to a sell-out audience!

The Art Room Events co-ordinator Beverley Silverstone approached writer and director Patrick Barlow last May to ask him if he would be interested in putting on this wonderful piece and because of his interest in The Art Room and theatre for children and adults alike, it seemed like a marriage made in heaven and he agreed immediately. The Almeida Theatre was the perfect location in Islington as it is around the corner from our first London Art Room in Brewery Road, Islington.

We had a wonderful cast, including Richard Griffiths, Henry Goodman, Steven Mangan, Bill Paterson, Juiet Stevenson Natascha McElhone, Patrick Barlow, Isy Suttie, Stephen Wight, Darren Boyd, Olivia Williams, Ilan Goodman, Simone James, Carl Prekopp, Maggie Steed, John Marquez, Martin Marquez and a stunning performance by the children from Windale Primary School, Oxford.

All the performers gave their services for free, rehearsing all day and performing in the evening. Our audience was then treated after the play to a champagne reception, cake 'pops' and a raffle.
